Accountability / Performance Reports
September 9, 2017
Dear Parents:
North Carolina’s school accountability program provides a great deal of important information about your child’s school. Just as student report cards provide parents with information about your child’s performance, the NC School Report Cards offer a snapshot of information about individual schools. This report card includes important information about school and student performance, class sizes, attendance, school safety, school facilities, instructional resources, and teacher quality.
These snapshots only tell part of the story. Other indicators of school quality that are not reported on the report card are also important to parents and community members. At Alleghany High School, we are proud of so many wonderful programs and achievements that our school community has undertaken. At the very heart of our success is a talented and hard working faculty that provides outstanding learning opportunities on a daily basis. Our school most recently excelled in many areas including EOC and CTE scores as well as graduation rate. Alleghany High School received and overall C rating. We look forward to building on this success in the future.
The report cards are available on the Report Card Web site at www.ncreportcards.org. Look at our school’s full report card at this Web site, or read the two-page summary, called the Report Card Snapshot, that I’ve enclosed with this letter. Our school district’s report card can be found on the NC Report CardWeb site as well.
School report cards are provided for regular public schools, charter schools, and alternative schools that were open during the 2015-2016 school year. At Alleghany High School, we want parents to be as informed as possible about our school’s progress and more involved on a regular basis. Please feel free to contact me directly to discuss the report card or any concerns you may have about our school. Thank you for allowing me to share this report card with you and for supporting our efforts to provide your child with a high quality education. Your commitment makes the difference for our school community.
Sincerely,
