Mrs. Susanne Murphy
Hello!  I am Susanne Murphy and this is my TWENTIETH year of teaching PreK in Alleghany County.  My handy sidekick Ms. Marlene and I have been teaching together for sixteen years! I am a former student of Piney Creek School.  I earned my initial teaching certification in Special Education from Appalachian State University, my Birth-Kindergarten license from Lenoir Rhyne University, and my Master’s in Elementary Education from Winston Salem State University. I am also proud to hold a National Board Professional Teaching Certificate, which is the highest certification awarded to a teacher.

I LOVE teaching our youngest students during their first year of public school and try to make sure each one leaves our class with a love for school.  In our classroom we work hard to build a safe, loving school family.

When I am not at school, I am usually hanging out with my husband, Derrick, and our big kids, Blake and Phoebe.   Our family also includes three dogs, Cooper, Scooter and Daisy.
In my spare time you can usually find me making a big mess at home with one of my many “projects”!  I also enjoy being in my garden, cooking, and reading all the good books!

Mrs. Marlene Weaver - Preschool Teacher Assistant 
Hi!  I have been an assistant preschool teacher for 18 years.  I love being creative and like to do art projects with our young students. 

I live with my husband and two daughters in the Laurel Springs community.  I also have two grown sons and two grandchildren. I enjoy working in my yard and garden.  I love animals and live with one dog, seven goats, one donkey, and a flock of chickens!
