Mrs. Sherrie Hines
I have been a middle school teacher since January of 2002. I have taught middle school science, math, Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1 in Ashe County, NC from 2002-2010. During that time I was name Ashe County Teacher of the Year, Ashe County Middle School Teacher of the Year, Ashe County's Secondary Math Teacher of the Year, and Region 7 NCMSA Teacher of the Year. I have served as one of three lead teachers in the Appalachian Regional Math and Science Partnership. We partnered with the NWRESA and Appalachian State University to provide sustainable staff development for three years to teachers in western NC. I have also presented at the NCCTM state conference for 8 years and helped present at the T Cubed conference in Denver, CO. I also had the opportunity to travel to Detroit, MI to train in Balanced Assessment. I began teaching In Alleghany County in 2011 and was name Alleghany Schools and Piney Creek Elementary Teacher of the Year for the 2012-2013 school year. I have had the opportunity during my time with Alleghany Schools to travel to Washington, DC to the Smithsonian Institute to help our county create a strategic science plan for our schools and to Salt Lake City Utah to learn how to create effective PLC's. I received my National Board Certification in early adolescent math in 2009. I received my master's degree in educational media in 2015 and I am currently attending ASU to earn my certificate in school administration. I currently teach middle school math and science at Piney Creek Elementary School. I live in Sparta, NC with my husband and three dogs.
