Principal's Message

  • It is with much gratitude that the staff and I welcome our students and their families to the 2021-2022 school year at Glade Creek School. I am so pleased to be starting my seventh year as principal here at Glade Creek. Each student here at Glade is so important and special to us. Students are our focus and their achievement at school is what drives our work.

This year we continue to have safety procedures in place daily. The health of our students is our most important job. Everyone on campus will wear masks, hand washing will be increased, and social distancing will be practiced. By working daily to include these health guidelines, our students will have better school days.

Parents, I invite you to help your children have many great learning days at school this year by working daily on the following: 1) students need a good night of rest; 2) eating breakfast is the most important meal of the day; 3) read for 20 minutes at home each evening; 4) support your child’s teachers, and 5) schedule appointments and vacations that do not interfere with your child’s school day. These five habits will help your children and our students shine! With your help, I know that each Glade Creek student will have a great start to their school day throughout the school year. Our school day begins at 7:55 a.m. and ends at 2:55 p.m. It is very important to help your child develop a strong attendance habit.

In closing, I want students and staff to know that you continue to have lots of momentum. Your hard work, focus, and great relationships have set the bar in the Alleghany County School System and across the Northwest Region. I believe that our Glade Creek School family is a wonderful example of what is possible in public education. Recently, our school received the 2020 Lighthouse Award from NCASCD. This award is symbolic of our daily commitment to excellence in student relationships and teaching our students. I look forward to celebrating future success stories with each one of you. Again, welcome back to school and if I can be of any assistance or help do not hesitate to call the school office or e-mail me.
