Mrs. Tonya Richardson

I am a resident of Alleghany County, born and raised in Sparta.  My husband, Dayton, and I have one son, Matthaus.  As a family, we enjoy time together, muddy puddle jumping, and walks through nature.  I am proud to be an educator at Glade Creek School!  I am a 2001 graduate of Alleghany High School.  I obtained my Associates of Arts degree from Surry Community College, my Bachelor's degree in K-6 Elementary Education from Lees McRae University, and I completed my Master's degree in Instructional Technology and Media through Appalachian State University.  I began my teaching career at Glade Creek School in 2005, as a preschool teacher.  Since my start, I have enjoyed fulfilling many different positions and gaining experience in many different areas.  I have had the pleasure of working with students in grades preschool through sixth grade in many different academic areas, small groups, and electives.  Currently, I am continuing to gain experience in different areas of teaching, working hard daily in fourth grade.  The best part of what I do is the 'a-ha' moment when a child's eyes brighten and the concept is understood.  I am thankful for the many different opportunities that I have been presented with, faced, and enjoyed.  This will be another wonderful year to add to the memory bank!
