The Board of Education conducts its regular meeting on the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Alleghany County Board of Education, Central Office located at 85 Peachtree Street, Sparta, NC. A closed session portion of the meeting takes place following the open session. Any change of meeting dates will be posted on the website and local news media notified.
Special Board meetings are held as necessary and will be announced at least 48 hours in advance on this website.
Board meetings are conducted for the purpose of carrying on the official business of the school system. The public is cordially invited to attend board meetings to observe the board as it conducts its official business. Citizens wishing to speak with the Board should contact the Superintendent’s Office at 336-372-4345 one week prior to the regular Board meeting. In addition, citizens may place an item on the Board agenda by submitting the request in writing to the superintendent’s office no later than ten days prior to the regular monthly meeting. Please note that matters involving individual students, school personnel, or legal issues cannot be addressed in an open session.
